How to convert JPG to WebP

Create a genuine WebP file and check the size and quality tradeoff.
Select WebP output
Open Image Converter and choose JPEG files. Select WebP as the output format and keep the original dimensions unless you need a smaller image. The browser must support WebP encoding; an unsupported encoder produces a clear error rather than a PNG with the wrong extension.
Balance quality and size
Lower quality can reduce bytes but may soften text and edges. Compare the result and read the actual output size. Re-encoding an already efficient JPEG does not guarantee a smaller WebP. PNG is a useful alternative when a destination needs lossless transparency.
Download and verify
Download individual images or a batch ZIP. Confirm that your website, email client or recipient accepts WebP. Exported files use the actual encoded MIME type and matching extension. The conversion discards original metadata; check orientation and colours against the original.
